Why Volunteer?
Barack Obama

We need you!

Do you believe that we can take back all levels of government for the people from the bottom up?
If you said yes, then we should start with City Councils, to School Boards to County Commissions, to State Legislature, to Governor, to the Congress, Senate and President. The best way to elect Democrats is on a personal level at the doors–conversations about how to vote and the issues we care about. We must If our values. We know the current one-party rule at the national and state level is bad for democracy.

It is clear the Republican Party is now so radical and so extreme they have totally lost what it means to serve and to put people first. Whether it is separating children and families, shutting down the government, giving the biggest government handout in decades to millionaires and billionaires while pretending they are giving tax cuts to our families or cutting health insurance and food stamps to working families. The GOP is now the party of mean.

To take back our government, we need help from dedicated and enthusiastic people like you.
Help from dedicated volunteers provide critical resources and are the lifeblood of any successful campaign.
Volunteers perform a diverse array of tasks, from door-to-door canvassing to stuffing letters, to making calls. But while the work is diverse, one thing is always consistent -- there is always a friendly, team-oriented environment in which you get to promote progressive values and meet new people at the same time!
We understand that everyone has different interests and a different amount of time that they are able to commit to volunteering. Once you submit the form, we will get in touch with you (via telephone or e-mail, whichever you prefer) and talk to you about how you would like to help and upcoming opportunities.

  • Register to vote as (or change your party affiliation to) a Democrat in Polk County.
  • Sign up below and you will receive Lakeland Democrat Club news and announcements via email.
  • Attend our monthly meetings held on the 1st Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm. (Check our calendar for the meeting location).
  • Volunteer on a committee by signing up here — just fill out the form.
  • Become a Precinct Captain — organize a precinct, your own or one very close to you, for the upcoming Election. You can make the job easier by recruiting Neighborhood Leaders in the precinct. They will be responsible for specific lists of voters close to their homes until the Election Day. Tell us if you are interested in becoming a Precinct Captain.
  • Become a Block Captain — You get your own short list of Democratic voters in your neighborhood who sometimes forget to vote and work with and encourage them until November to either go to the polls or vote by mail! It’s an opportunity to make new friends! It’s fun and easy, close to home, and you’ll be doing a great service for your country! Let us know if being a Block Captain is for you!
  • Attend our occasional social events, held at various establishments around the County. It’s a great opportunity to socialize with like-minded folks, make new friends, and reconnect with old friends. (Check the calendar for further details).
  • Donate to the party by contributing online or by sending a check by mail:
